For our movers it would be mandatory that they stay home, and for our customers, moving services can be rescheduled, postponed or cancelled to mitigate risk, should that be necessary.
  • Our crews are equipped with gloves, disinfectant sprays/wipes and hand sanitizer for your protection and theirs.
  • We have put into effect social distancing measures, and although we have always valued the professionalism and respect that comes along with a good introductory handshake and a departing thank you, we ask for your understanding that for the safety and well-being of everyone, there’ll be no handshake or touching of any kind.
  • Upon arrival, our crew will still introduce themselves, walk through the home with appropriate social distance, begin to protect the home with all safeguards like floor runners, and door jams (as they always do), but in addition we ask you now (with all due respect), to please give them the appropriate space they need to safely and efficiently service your move and allow them space to do their job.
  • When available and appropriate, open doorways and windows to increase air circulation and ventilation.
  • We are also taking measures to sanitize the cabs and boxes of our trucks, as well as all blankets, pads, tools and equipment after each and every move to reduce any risk of cross-contamination.
  • It is our hope and our expectation that you will take the same precautionary measures that we are taking, and that will also sanitize and wipe down any and all exposed surfaces and furniture prior to our arrival. Anything that you can do to help keep our working conditions safe and sanitary for our men, is equally appreciated.

Why Florida?

According to new data, Florida has trumped Texas in the waging battle for the top spot as the number one moving location in America. Florida has been struggling to take first place from Texas for a couple of years now. But finally, it has officially surpassed it. Not just in the number of tourists, but also in the number of people who want to plant their seeds and start a family in Florida. So what’s the reason for such surge of newcomers?

The question shouldn’t be why Florida, but rather – why not Florida?

Well, first off, the economy is booming. Central Florida in particular. The home developments and newly built shopping centers cannot be parried with by any state in America. There’s also a certain allure in the comfort of knowing that there are jobs for people who are willing to put in the work. Not to mention the number of attractions and other family-friendly activities that the Sunshine State brings.

Most affordable Florida cities

Keeping that in mind, it’s no wonder that people are looking for the most affordable Florida city that they can move into. Florida spans an area of 65,757.70 square miles, with a length of 447 miles, and the width of 361 miles! And when you take into consideration the topsy-turvey condition of the market economy, questions like “Will I be able to live close to a beach without paying a huge amount of rent? Is there really a good place for me here?” start popping up. However, don’t fret! Kendall movers are here to help! Here’s a list of our recommendations for the most affordable Florida cities

How did we determine what are the most affordable Florida cities?

Without geeking out too much, this is the basic premise. The Census Bureau of The United States has an online website that has all the data about the economy and people in the USA. You can search that data and filter it by applying the facts that interest you. The data that we were looking for is the median household income as well as the population count. So with those facts in mind, we set out to search the web site’s data and came up with the following results.

Close up of a chart of statstics
The key data point in our statistic analysis was Median Household Income.

However, we won’t waste your time. If you want to know what is the most affordable Florida city, in short, it’s Fort Mead. However, we are sure that you are interested in the reasons why.

1. Fort Mead – the most affordable Florida city

Fort Meade is a city in Polk County, Florida that covers a small portion of the Sunshine State (around 8.55 square miles). The city bears the name of George Mead, a United States Army officer, whom people know best for his decisive victory in the Battle of Gettysburg. It is the home of Fort Meade Middle-Senior High School, which is a great public school. The city is filled with historical buildings and museums. And it has a lot of outdoor activities that will tickle your fancies such as the Streamsong resort or Patterson Park.

However, that is not the sole reason why Fort Mead made it up so high on this list. It has the best home price to income ratio of all the Florida cities. Which pin-points to a well-built and oiled economy, and great job opportunities that are waiting for you.

2. Live Oak

Live Oak is a city in Suwannee County, Florida that is even smaller than Ford Mead (around 7.57 square miles). The history behind the origins of its name is actually quite interesting. The workers built the city alongside the railroad, at that time. So, it got its name from the tree under which railroad workers rested and ate lunch. Soon after the railroad was finished it was called Live Oak Station, and later the station part of the name was dropped and thus the name Live Oak stuck.

The reason why Live Oak is second on this list is because of low house prices and high median income. That, in combination with a loving and caring community, beautiful restaurants, and a plethora of fun activities, makes Live Oak a perfect choice if you decide that moving to Florida is the thing for you.

3. Quincy

Quincy is a city in Gadsden County, Florida that has the highest population count of all of the cities on this list (7,972). But it is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a big city. Especially if you take into consideration that Miami around 400,000 Floridians living in it. Quincy’s economy has its origin in agriculture. More specifically, tobacco, tomatoes, mushrooms, and other crops. However, by the end of 2008, the city started to shift its focus to being a more business-oriented district.

And it has the numbers to prove it. Weighing at around $35,509 of Median Household Income, and a booming economy is a reason why Quincy is so high on our list of the most affordable cities in Florida.

In conclusion

Hopefully, you’ve enjoyed this article. This list is meant to serve as a guideline in your journey of picking out the most affordable city in Florida. Maybe the choices we outlined do not correspond with your views of what an affordable Florida city might be. That’s okay, because even knowing that these cities are not something you are interested in, is still a win.
