What You Can’t Move in Miami

Restricted Items for Moving in Miami

When it comes time to move in Miami many people think they can just toss all their belongings into boxes, have them loaded onto a truck and be on their way. While the vast majority of things can be done this way, some items have restrictions on them. Even if you can take some of these items on a short local Miami move, you may not be able to if you are going to be crossing state lines.
If you are hiring a team of professional Miami movers, there may be additional restrictions on the type of things that can be moved. No matter what part of the city you are moving from or where you are going, it is a good idea to get a good understanding of which items may be restricted so you don’t run into any surprises.

Products with Common Restrictions

The following categories often have restrictions regarding whether or not you can pack them up and bring them with you in a move. Sometimes the restrictions involve certain amounts of a given product and other times it is just related to transporting the product across state lines. If you need to bring anything on this list with you, make sure you look into whether or not it is permitted in your situation.
• Flammable Items – Many flammable items such as gasoline, fireworks, kerosene, lamp oil, matches, nail polish remover, paint thinner and even charcoal can be restricted when you are moving.
• Chemicals – Many chemicals like ammonia, chemistry sets, cleaning solvents, darkroom chemicals, bleach, weed killer, pool chemicals and pesticides have restrictions on them.
• Explosive Items – Items that can be explosive are often banned. Propane tanks, fertilizer and aerosol cans may not be able to be moved.
• Batteries – Car batteries and even some household batteries may not be able to be transported across state lines. This is especially true if you have a large number of them.
This is not a complete list but covers the main category of products that may have limitations on them when it comes to moving them from Miami to another area. One of the easiest ways to see whether or not something you want moved will cause trouble is by simply calling your Miami moving company ahead of time and ask them for advice.

What to do with These Items

If you have any items in any of the categories listed above you will need to make sure they won’t cause any problems on your move. In most cases as long as you only have a small amount you won’t have any trouble. If you are worried, however, it is often easiest to just dispose of the items and replace them when you get to your new home. If you do need to take them with you, talk to your Miami movers about whether it is possible to get special containers or permits to have these items moved with you on your relocation.
